Melanie Vecchia - Spooner is my goddaughter. She is most often called Mel  though I have always liked Melly.  One day, she was visiting me after her middle school classes. I was shocked when she exclaimed, " Aunt Moriah, do you want to see my website?"

"What ? You are 11 years old and you have a website.?" I thought she must be joking. And ..... I did not have a website. I had been told innumerable times to have a site. How could a child have a website ? I was shocked and stunned by this reality. Curious too.

She invited me to sit down at the computer with her and in a heartbeat, we were looking at her 1 page website. It was devoted to baseball, a sport she was and is passionate about. She was also starring in the role of being the mascot for the Danbury, CT team, the Westeners. We liked to joke that she got her training for that role, dressing up in a massive baseball head and costume, in her years performing children's theater with me.

"Aunt Moriah, you can start one right now. I'll help you. "  And for this  totally non - technological person, she did just that.  I remember her being kind, helpful, patient and so encouraging for me to start with that 1 page lay-out.

Thank you to Melanie for all that help  and enthusiasm to get started. She inspired me that day and in the days, weeks and months that followed, to create my site here.

Thank you to TipTop for making it easy for me to get started. I now have 2 sites and recommend them highly.

I never played sports in school, never was on a team. This experience with her was like learning to take the ball and run with it. Or like learning how to throw and catch the ball first. Or like her pitching me the ball. You can see I am still challenged with sports metaphors. Melanie however, got me on the webteam. Intuitively, I hear to suggest that she pitched me the idea !

Years ago, I read a book called The Game of LIfe and How to Play It by Florence Shen. I have not thought of that book in a long time, but as it comes to me on the inner winds, I am reminded of this spiritual offering that we are all here in this earth school and learning to play the game of life. We all arrive here as returning souls thru many incarnations to play the game of life again. I am  grateful for Melly coming as my teacher. We truly are all in this together with Spirit  guiding.

I love you Mel. You are the best. I wish your highest unfoldment and joy.

Update Thanksgiving 2014. I was encouraging a friend recently to get a  website up and shared this story about Melly. Mel  respresented CT in a trip to Ireland. She graduated early from high school, and earned a full time scholarship to Western CT State University where she is a freshman. Stay tuned to hearing about her  future entry onto the comedic stage.
