The Journey

Above the mountains the geese turn into the light again

painting their black silhouettes on an open sky.

Sometimes everything has to be inscribed across the heavens

so you can find the one line already written inside you.

Sometimes it takes a great sky to find

that small, bright and indescribable wedge of freedom

in your own heart.

Sometimes with the bones of the black sticks left when the fire has gone out

Someone has written something new in the ashes of your life.

You are not leaving,  You are arriving.

At the present time, I am focused more on the Inner Quest. I utilize the process of the outer vision quest in the Soul Healing Journey. On a traditional vision quest, there are 3 parts. First, one hears a calling which is a wake-up kind of sounding. There is in the first part a separating with what has been in one's life. This looks like physcially leaving home to prepare with a guide to go out on the earth for a time apart, a time out from the familiar, everyday dimension of time and space.

In the second phase of the vision quest, one crosses the threshold into the wilderness to be alone, to fast and to pray, to call out for guidance. In the emptying from contact with the familiar, comes an invitation to receive a filling up with insight, aha, make space for spiritual visitors, receive answers.

For the third part of the traditional vision quest, one must return. One must come back and be received home. There is the telling of one's story of what happened out on the quest. And there is the integration of the medicine gifts received and gifted in the wilderness with Spirit.

This model serves the Inner Soul Journey so very well.

I do hunger for the deep nourishment of being a part of a group or circle out on the earth for this ceremony. If this is of interest to you, please let me know in an email.
